AB 2628 – State Auditor: Website
The State Auditor (Auditor) is tasked with conducting performance and policy evaluations, investigations into improper governmental activities, and financial and compliance audits, among other duties. The Auditor is required to report to the Joint Legislative Budget Committee, the Joint Legislative Audit Committee, and the Department of Finance, regarding the Auditor’s recommendations based on audits and investigations that are more than one (1) year old and have not been fully implemented by the affected agency, by January 15 of each year.
Assembly Bill 2628 (AB 2628) removes these requirements, and instead require the Auditor to maintain a publicly accessible internet website, displaying the status of recommendations of the Auditor based on an audit or investigation. State agencies will be required to submit an update to the Auditor, which the Auditor will be required to update every three years, if the Auditor’s recommendation has not been fully implemented.
(AB 2628 amends section 8548.9, of the Government Code and section 19210 of the Public Contract Code.)
