Under existing law, the Office of the Attorney General requires all law enforcement agencies in California to submit hate crime event reports to the Department of Justice and requires the Department of Justice to make an annual public report with the information obtained from local law enforcement. AB 485 adds an additional provision to this law, requiring each local law enforcement agency to post the information it is required to report to the DOJ to the agency’s own website on a monthly basis.

(AB 485 amends Section 13023 of the Penal Code.)
