AB 672 – Civil Rights Department

Existing law authorizes the Civil Rights Department (CRD) to provide assistance to communities in resolving disputes, disagreements, or difficulties relating to discriminatory practices, but these services are only available upon the request of an appropriate state or local public body, or upon the request of any person directly affected by a dispute, disagreement, or difficulty.

Assembly Bill 672 (AB 672) additionally authorizes CRD to offer its services in cases of these disputes, disagreements, or difficulties, while also continuing to provide them upon the request of an appropriate state or local public body, or upon the request of any person directly affected.

(AB 672 amends section 12931 of the Government Code.)
