Liebert Cassidy Whitmore Attorneys Named 2024 Northern California Super Lawyers and Rising Stars
LOS ANGELES- Liebert Cassidy Whitmore is pleased to announce that eight LCW attorneys have been named 2024 Northern California Super Lawyers and Rising Stars. Fresno and Sacramento Office Managing Partner Shelline Bennett and Partners Richard Bolanos and Gage Dungy were selected as Super Lawyers while Partners Amy Brandt, Nathan Jackson and Associates Yesenia Z. Carrillo, Tony G. Carvalho, and Jessica Tam were selected as Rising Stars. Shelline, Rick, Gage, Amy, Nathan, Yesenia, Tony and Jessica earned this distinction due to their persistent and unwavering efforts in representing LCW’s clients, in addition to their steadfast commitment to the legal profession.
Super Lawyers is a rating service for outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The selection process is multi-phased and includes independent research, peer nominations and peer evaluations. Each year, no more than five percent of the lawyers in the state are selected as Super Lawyers and no more than 2.5 percent are selected as Rising Stars.
2024 Northern California Super Lawyers
Fresno and Sacramento Office Managing Partner Shelline Bennett, having been awarded this honor for her 17th consecutive year (19 years total), exclusively advises and represents LCW management clients in all areas of labor and employment law. In addition to serving as lead negotiator at bargaining tables, Shelline has an extensive litigation background. Shelline provides investigation services including those of a sensitive nature and concerning high-profile individuals. Shelline also regularly conducts full-day train the investigator trainings in compliance with Civil Rights Department guidelines.
San Francisco Partner Rick Bolanos, having been awarded this honor for his 12th consecutive year (15 years total), provides labor relation services for public agencies, including serving as chief negotiator. Rick also provides oversight of complex personnel investigations and specialized advice and counsel concerning workplace harassment, discrimination and retaliation matters. In addition, Rick is one of the firm’s specialists in Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) consultation and litigation.
Sacramento Partner Gage C. Dungy, having been awarded this honor for his 2nd consecutive year (12 years total), has represented and advised public agency employers on all aspects of labor and employment law issues. In addition to his advice and counsel practice, he served as chief negotiator for public sector agencies in labor negotiations with their employee organizations, including both miscellaneous and safety employee units covered under the Meyers-Milias-Brown Act (MMBA). Gage is a highly sought-after trainer, and regularly presents to clients on topics including performance management, preventing workplace harassment, family/medical leaves of absence, wage and hour law, the meet and confer process, and public safety employment. He has also published articles on current labor and employment law cases and trends in the Daily Journal and the California Public Employee Relations Journal.
2024 Northern California Rising Stars
San Francisco based Partner Amy Brandt, ranking as a Rising Star for her third consecutive year, provides advice and counsel in matters pertaining to education, labor, and employment law. Amy represents clients, most notably community college and school districts, before the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Office of Administrative Hearings, California Public Employee Relations Board, and the Office for Civil Rights. Amy also serves as lead negotiator for clients at the bargaining table, and currently sits on the board of the California Council of School Attorneys.
Fresno Attorney Tony Carvalho, ranking as a Rising Star for his fifth consecutive year, provides employment and labor law advice and counsel to public entities. Tony has significant experience in litigation, government claims, and EEOC/DFEH complaints, including drafting pleadings, motions, memoranda, written discovery, mediation briefs, and employer responses to EEOC/DFEH complaints.
Sacramento based Partner Nathan Jackson, ranking as a Rising Star for his third consecutive year, provides representation and counsel to clients in matters pertaining to labor and employment law. He is an aggressive litigator and has significant law and motion experience in state and federal courts, covering everything from complex discovery issues to dispositive motions. Nathan also has extensive experience responding to investigations initiated by California’s Department of Fair Employment & Housing (DFEH) and the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).
Fresno Attorney Yesenia Z. Carrillo is honored to accept this distinction for the first time in her career. Yesenia provides advice and counsel to clients in all matters pertaining to education, labor, and employment law, in addition to also assisting clients with labor negotiations. Yesenia regularly trains on a variety of topics, including: Preventing Harassment, Discrimination, Retaliation; Unconscious Bias and Elimination of Bias; Ethics in Public Service and Conflict of Interest; and Title IX.
San Francisco attorney Jessica Tam is delighted to be awarded this honor for the first time in her career. Jessica provides advice and counsel to clients in education, labor, and employment law.
