Yesenia Zamora Carrillo is an Associate in the Fresno office of Liebert Cassidy Whitmore (LCW) where she provides advice and counsel to clients in all matters pertaining to education, labor, and employment law. Yesenia works closely with community college districts, school district boards and administrators on various issues, including leaves, investigations, employee discipline, state worker’s compensation, reasonable accommodations, community partnerships, layoffs and workforce reduction. In addition, Yesenia provides advice and counsel on matters including employee contracts, settlement agreements, retention policies, wage and hour compliance and employment handbooks. She provides counsel on employment discrimination matters as well as state worker’s compensation, CFRA, FMLA, ADA, FLSA and OSHA. Further, she counsels HR, business partners, management, and supervisors on hiring, rehire, terminations, disciplinary action and layoffs, while also tackling litigation matters related to personnel issues.
Yesenia also represents schools and public agencies in matters including arbitrations, defending claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, advising on Public Records Act compliance and issues arising under the Ralph M. Brown Act.
Yesenia also assists clients with labor negotiations. She has experience drafting and reviewing CBAs and MOUs, as well as managing bargaining unit grievances, including responses, mediations, arbitrations, and settlements.
Yesenia regularly trains on a variety of topics, including: Preventing Harassment, Discrimination, Retaliation; Unconscious Bias and Elimination of Bias; Ethics in Public Service and Conflict of Interest; and Title IX.
Before joining LCW, Yesenia directed extensive video conference trainings for management and cross-functional teams in both English and Spanish on sexual harassment prevention, discrimination, and abusive workplace conduct. She also provided advice and counsel on wage and hour claims, including single plaintiff, class actions, and Labor Commissioner claims. Yesenia also handled litigation matters including conducting plaintiff depositions, defending depositions, and attending mediation. She also conducted workplace investigations into allegations of misconduct, harassment, bullying, and company policy violations. She also provided advice and counsel to school districts on charter petitions.
Professional and Community Involvement
Yesenia is very active in the community and serves in leadership positions for many organizations. She is the Vice President of the Central Unified Board of Trustees, Director of the Fresno County Bar Association, and the Chairperson for a local nonprofit board. She has served as the President of the Central Unified Board of Trustees, Fresno County Employment Lawyers and the Fresno County Women Lawyers. Additionally, she is an active member of the Fresno County Women Lawyers, California Women Lawyers, and Fresno County Young Lawyers.
